Creating an app from scratch is no easy feat. Though we began with payment processing, we envisioned for TuitionEP to eventually grow into a broader resource for schools to track admissions goals, create custom templates and notifications, and easily access yearly reports. The first step was creating the name, branding, and detailed style guide for the design of the app and platform.
After doing user research to determine the needs of the target audience, we created wireframes and flow charts to map the user journey from point A to point B. Working heavily in Adobe XD, we created an interactive prototype for both the mobile app and the admin dashboard. Our development team then got to work creating the platform and putting the app through QA and testing before launch. We launched TuitionEP in 2018, and later released Version 2.0 in the summer of 2021.
Once schools and organizations started using the app, we introduced several new features to make the platform even more versatile. In addition to the existing notification center and student profiles, we added enrollment management, donations features, and custom forms and templates. We rolled out the app in Spanish and enhanced the parent mobile app design and functionality.
We positioned TuitionEP as a fintech company on a mission to provide trusted and high-quality services for schools and organizations. They were able to unveil the new brand and features at the FCIS and TAIS conventions in 2021 and promote the app using digital advertising campaigns, social media content, email newsletters, and weekly videos.
